Delhi has reported 3,082 cases of dengue this year, according to the data released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). A report in Indian Express says that this is the highest in the last five years, except in 2023 when it had reported 4,404 cases during this period.
MCD on Monday launched a campaign under which it used drones to spray anti-larva medicine on 15 hectares of waterlogged area at Narela’s Rani Khera ward. Mayor Shelly Oberoi said, “For the first time in Delhi, anti-mosquito medicine is being sprayed through drones… Due to lack of drainage of rainwater, the risk of vector-borne diseases increases in this area.”

  • Get Rid of Breeding Sites: Remove stagnant water in containers like flower pots, buckets and tyres to prevent mosquito breeding.
  • Use Mosquito Coils/Repellents Indoors: Use coils, plug-in-repellent devices, or sprays indoors to prevent mosquito bites.
  • Use Mosquito Nets: Sleep under treated mosquito nets, especially in dengue-prone areas.
  • Install Window Screens: Keep windows and doors closed or install screens to prevent mosquitoes from entering.
  • Stay Indoors During Peak Mosquito Activity: Avoid being outdoors at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep surroundings clean to avoid mosquito breeding grounds.
