Also known as hypomagnesaemia, symptoms of low magnesium in your body include muscle cramps, high blood pressure and many other mental health conditions. Doctors say it is also often hard to detect until levels become very low.
Dr. Berg says those who have diabetes, low absorption, chronic diarrhoea, and celiac disease are associated with magnesium loss. Even those who suffer from alcohol use disorder are also at increased risk of this life-threatening deficiency.

What are the signs of magnesium deficiency?

Magnesium deficiency may be underdiagnosed since the signs commonly do not appear until levels become severely low. A few of these include:

Mental health conditions

Mental health conditions are possible symptoms of magnesium deficiency, which causes anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.

Muscle twitches and cramps

If you are wondering why, despite taking enough vitamin D, you continue to experience more cramps in your muscles, it could be due to extremely low levels of magnesium.
