Vegetarian people often find it difficult to incorporate protein in their diet. It has always been a struggle for them. If you are facing the same issue then Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh is here to help you. During her recent appearance on the Ranveer Allahbadia Podcast Show, she was asked her favourite vegetarian sources of protein.
"Edamame, methi, asparagus, broccoli," the actress said. She further insisted people to try quinoa because of its high protein value. "If your gut is healthy, then protein shakes are very helpful. However, it is very important to know the make of your protein shake because there are also a lot of shakes which are not good quality. So, try to go in for a grass-fed or an organic form or a vegan protein shake," she added.
For those who don't know, proteins are the building blocks of life. Every cell in the human body contains protein. The basic structure of protein is a chain of amino acids. You need protein in your diet to help your body repair cells and make new ones.
Many factors affect the amount of protein we need daily, such as our gender, age, weight and how active we are. Also, higher protein intake is required for those pregnant or lactating, for a growing teenager, or those recovering from an illness or a surgery.
During the same podcast, Rakul busted some common misconceptions about strength training, particularly for women. When asked about a workout myth she wanted to debunk, Rakul shared the importance of strength training for women, clarifying that it doesn't lead to bulky muscles as often feared. “Strength training is very important. Women feel that strength training would give them big muscles but that is not the truth. Because we do not have so much testosterone in our bodies,” she said.
